Fossilized resin from pine-like trees that grew about 30 million years ago. Usually found in Britain, Germany, Russia, Italy, and Romania.
History and Folklore
Has been found in Paleolithic graves. In the Far East, amber was thought to hold the souls of tigers and the power of the Sun. Vikings called amber, “Tears of Freya” and regarded it as a symbol of love and fertility.

To test if Amber is genuine, take a bowl of sea water (1/2 cup salt per gallon of water) and place the piece of amber in the bowl. According to tradition, genuine amber will float.
